The story so far...
A lot has happened, since the acclaimed debut album "Alt und Neu". Sid and Eddy a.k.a. Schwefelgelb, were invited to the Wire festival in Tokyo, the biggest festival for electronic music in Asia. The picky, well informed audience went crazy over Schwefelgelb's mix of electro, new and dark wave. The eccentric stage performance did the rest. The same happened on tour in England, Spain, Poland... And during that, Schwefelgelb found the time to remix a number of other artists. Not bad for such a young band. Not bad for any band! Enough about the musical side of Schwefelgelb.

Due to the fact, that Schwefelgelb haven't neglected their visual side as well - they consistently perform with their dancers Nyx and Hal - it was only a matter of time until fashion magazines stood in line to decorate themselves with Schwefelgelb. And so it happened: Schwefelgelb photo galleries in domestic and international hipster magazines. The duality of musical and optical appeal, has turned Schwefelgelb into one of the most interesting European newcomers of late.

Das Ende vom Kreis (The end of the circle)
That's the title of the second album coming out in october. A monster of an album! If on their debut, Schwefelgelb brilliantly combined brute electronic body music à la à;GRUMH or Front 242 with catchy melodies and melodic detail, they now not only further continue to do so on Das Ende vom Kreis, but take it to the extreme. On the one hand a cool elegance, that keeps reminding you of the sound of the Sheffield scene (Human League, Cabaret Voltaire) - for instance the touching "Zu Zweit" -, on the other hand the hard, but never simple beats. In this respect, on Das Ende vom Kreis (The end of the circle), Schwefelgelb have managed to square one and the same: smart music, with the chance to pogo dance, that can't deny and doesn't even want to deny where it's coming from, but nevertheless sounds as fresh and progressive, as if the Roland TR-808s have just recently rolled off the assembly line.

Outlook
With Das Ende vom Kreis, Schwefelgelb have proven, that the success of "Alt und Neu" was no stroke of luck, that Schwefelgelb are a serious, young band, that exactly knows what it's doing. Das Ende vom Kreis will cause a stir in the discos around the globe, and Schwefelgelb will matter to a substantial bigger audience, because their music functions detached from genres and genre attributions. Once again exhilarated, worn out masses, soaked with sweat will leave the clubs after Schwefelgelb shows. Solo projekt startat av Jim Ohlsson 2008 i ett sökande efter ett hårdare ebm sound med lite mer sväng i.

Projektet tog ett steg åt det mörkare slaget men experimenterar i olika sound och teman.

Grundas i slutet av 80-talet av Mikael och Henrik, gjorde aldrig några släpp, men gjorde musiken till B-Zombiefilmen Zombienoid. Några låtar och videos finns i extramaterialet till filmboxen Die Zombiejäger. Mest kända för låten ”Coming Down”. Bandet lades på vila runt 2004. Grid Eight startades i Februari 2010 av Engelsmannen Sebastian Kivi (som även skrivit denna biografi), och var tänkt som ett projekt där jag kunde få utlopp för att skriva Synth/Synth Pop musik och sångtexter. Jag har lyssnat på och älskat Synth sedan jag var tretton, i samband med att ha sett en dokumentär om Jean Michel Jarre, och fick sedan skivan Equinoxe (1977) av mina föräldrar till Jul. Jarre följdes åt av att jag upptäckte Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, och Kraftwerk, och sedan blev jag fast förankrad inom Synth.
Musik är inget yrke för mig; jag arbetar heltid som författare och redaktör inom militärhistoria, och att skriva musik gör jag sent på kvällen; som det är just nu börjar jag 22.00 och slutar ungefär vid 02.00 på morgonen.
Mina inspirationskällor har varit Jean Michel Jarre, Pet Shop Boys, Kraftwerk, och Front 242, och det är jag som står för musiken, texterna, och sången inom Grid Eight. Jag använder ingen mjukvara, programmering, eller sequencers, utan spelar/skriver endast på hårdvara. Den utrustning som jag använder är en Yamaha DGX-202 (som nu inte görs längre), som bland annat tillåter mig att spela två synthar simultant, skriva egen programmering och sequencers ifrån grunden, så jag behöver ingen bärbar dator eller något annat externt när jag spelar. I framtiden ska jag skaffa mig tre synthar till, och ett par mjukvarusynthar, samt en del mjukvara, och hoppas att jag kan kombinera mitt musikskrivande med mitt drömyrke, vilket är att bli universitetslektor i litteratur och språkvetenskap. Detta beror på om och när jag kan skriva min doktorsavhandling; just nu är det inte särskilt optimalt med tanke på nedskärningarna inom universitetsväsendet.

Ten years ago, Martin was studying at Valla Folkhögskola in Linköping. His school was throwing a party and he was offered the opportunity to appear with his band – unfortunately, at that time, there was no real band. Just a bunch of songs written over the years for a number of different bands. As it were, he had been in a whole bunch of bands - most of them also containing one or the other of two of his closest friends; Petter and Robin. It was not that far fetched an idea to call them up and form a group that could perform. This was in 1996, and the first gig ever for the synth-pop band Decency.

It is now ten years later and we have seen the band come and go a number of times over the years, usually following our own tidal patterns of nostalgia. Decency of 2006 is in most ways the same band as always – a number of the old songs are still with us, the members are the same and the sound is still mostly the same (although we are trying to slowly toughen up the sound a bit). New songs are coming though and we are very proud to announce our first full length album “Final Call”, which is basically a compilation of material we have played over the years – most of it reproduced and re-recorded, and some all new songs as well, but still – a full length album!

Our main focus this time around is to play live, something we’ve really missed. We will try for a record deal and we will continue to record our songs, but Decency IS a live band and it is live we should be experienced.

Anyway, we love you all! We consider this page a very informal way to connect with “fans” across the globe – no matter who you are or where you are, if you like synthpop and if you happen to like us – you are very welcome to give us a yell. MySpac is great for communication and networking and whether you are simply someone with a comment (good or bad) about us or any of our songs, or the booking agent of some venue – always feel free to speak up! We live for that. =)

Lastly, we will most probably keep one or two songs on the player, but others will be switched around from time to time. If you want to stay up to date, either stop by now and then or simply add our blog to your subscriptions – we will always post there when we do major updates (such as new songs or major gigs).

Polyfon är en dansk synthpopgrupp med klara referenser till de tidiga 1980talet.
Gruppen som bildades i 2006 har investerat i en ganska imponerande samling av vintage synthar, och det hörs tydligt på gruppens musik.
Gruppens line-up består förutom synthar av electrodrums, elbas (med diverse pedaler) och förstås vokal.
